Endometriosis Treatments

Treatments vary from person to person based on the severity of their endometriosis, symptoms, age, and whether they want children in the future. Here are possible options:

Hormonal Therapies

Hormonal Birth Control

Examples: Patches, Pills, and a Vaginal ring.

The goal is to help reduce or eliminate period symptoms. Often, patients have found their symptoms to grow worse when on their period.

Progestin Therapy

Examples: Progestin-only pills, Hormonal IUDs, and injectables.

Helps thin out the uterine lining and reduce symptoms

GnRH Agonists & Antagonists

Examples: Myfembree and Orlissa

Lowers estrogen levels to reduce symptoms and hopefully slow down the growth of endometriosis. Induces menopausal like symptoms.

Not used as a long-term treatment due to bone density loss, it can occur when taken for an extended period of time.
